FAQ

Q1: Can I go kayaking if I can’t swim?

Absolutely! Kayaking is a safe and beginner-friendly activity that’s easy to learn — swimming skills are not required. With guidance and instruction from our professional coaches, most people can get the hang of it in about 20 minutes and start enjoying the fun of paddling with confidence.

Q2: Capsizing sounds scary — what if the kayak flips over?

Don’t worry! The activity takes place on the Shuangxi River, where the water is wide and calm. If you happen to capsize — often just from getting a little too excited — there’s no need to panic. Everyone is required to wear a life jacket, so you'll stay afloat. Just hold on to your kayak, stay calm, and wait for the coach to assist you back into the boat.

Q3: How young can kids be to join the activity?

Kayaking is safe, fun, and suitable for a wide age range — from 5 to 77 years old! As long as participants wear properly fitted life jackets and follow the coach’s guidance, everyone can enjoy being a happy paddler. (For the two-person platform kayak, the minimum age is 5; for the Indian canoe, children as young as 3 can join.)

Q4: Can we still go kayaking if it rains?

Yes, kayaking continues as scheduled even in the rain — in fact, paddling in the rain can be a uniquely beautiful experience. However, if there’s thunder or heavy downpours, please follow the coach’s instructions and return to shore for safety. If a typhoon is approaching, we recommend rescheduling the activity for your safety.

Q5: Will kayaking be too tiring or physically demanding?

Not at all! Kayaking on the Shuangxi River is a relaxing and enjoyable experience. Our coaches won’t push you to paddle non-stop like you're on a tight schedule — you’ll paddle for a bit, then take breaks to rest, play in the water, or recharge with some snacks. It’s all about enjoying the moment at your own pace.

Q6: What should I wear for kayaking?

There is basic gear for kayaking, but for beginners, quick-dry athletic clothing and sports sandals are great alternatives. Avoid wearing jeans — they absorb water, become heavy, and dry slowly. Also, do not go barefoot while kayaking, as there may be sharp shells or rough surfaces along the riverbank and riverbed that can cause cuts and infections.

Q7: The coach takes a lot of photos during the activity — where can I see them?

All photos taken during the activity are uploaded afterward to the Paddle Around International Facebook page. You can view and download them online at your convenience. Feel free to share the album on your Facebook timeline so everyone can see how much fun you had kayaking!

Q8: What does

"Responsible Tourism" means minimizing the environmental impact of your travels while showing respect for the local culture and community. This responsibility includes preserving cultural heritage, protecting the environment, and supporting vulnerable groups. Although it may sound challenging, practicing responsible tourism is actually simple and can be done in everyday moments — like bringing your own eco-friendly chopsticks, reusable water bottle, or ocean-friendly sunscreen. These small actions help reduce waste and protect our planet, and everyone can start doing them today.
